West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski insists his team-mate Jarrod Bowen “really deserves” an England call-up.
The 25-year-old attacker is enjoying a tremendous 2021/22 so far, scoring five and assisting nine in 21 Premier League appearances.
In recent months he has been linked with a move to Liverpool, who are trying to tie star forward Mohamed Salah down to a new deal.
Bowen scored a brace for the Hammers against Norwich on Wednesday evening, firing his side into the top four.
And Fabianski has waxed lyrical about the former Hull City man, explaining that Bowen is going about his business “in a very quiet way”.
“I think he has been amazing since he signed for the club. From the very first moment,” the West Ham shot-stopper said (quotes via Football London).
“He is so direct but I think what he has improved is his finishing, the quality of his runs and the timing of his runs. The final bits as well are there.
“He is strong and powerful, we are happy to have him. Any defenders that plays against him struggles a bit so he has become a big threat and in my opinion he really deserves a chance with the national team as well.
“He is very quiet and his focus is mainly on football, which is right. He is doing his job in a very quiet way. He is not someone that even though he has been performing really consistently at the Premier League level for some time, he is very grounded and really focused on the work. Hopefully he will continue to improve.”
Fabianski discussed his own future, admitting he wants to stay at the London Stadium.
When asked if he will be at West Ham next season, he replied: “I hope so. I don’t know what to say, it is always a tricky question. I am very happy in this present time and present moment.
“I am really focused on doing well for the club and if everything goes well then I don’t see any other options.”
