Luka Modric returning to Tottenham sounds like a lovely idea, while Arsenal defenders are wanted elsewhere.
HIS NAME IS LUKA…
…and he might be returning to Tottenham. Modric is 36 but could thrive in Antonio Conte’s system at Spurs if he fancies a return back to the club he graced for four years between 2008 and 2012. Imagine an older but much, much better Harry Winks.
“Luka Modric has not signed the contract renewal yet, but he practically has a lifetime contract with Real Madrid,” said Carlo Ancelotti but Fichajes gossip man Ekrem Konur says that the deal has not been agreed and it runs out this summer, meaning Tottenham could step in and either offer a small fee for a January move or position themselves for a free transfer this summer.
ARSENAL CONTINUE CLEAR-OUT
Here is Fabrizio Romano with the low-down on a couple of potential Arsenal defensive exits this January:
Arsenal are prepared to let both Sead Kolasinac and Pablo Marí leave this month. Udinese are working to sign Marí on straight loan, negotiations ongoing. #AFC

It’s utterly astonishing that Kolasinac is still at Arsenal. That is all.
In Italy, they are reporting renewed interest from Roma in Granit Xhaka but that is unlikely to happen in January while the Gunners basically have no central midfield.
Eric Bailly is undoubtedly one of the many who wants out of Manchester United, and Fabrizio Romano is here with an update:
Abdou Diallo’s also a candidate in case Paris Saint-Germain will let him leave on loan. #ACMilan

Calcio Mercato put a little more meat on the bones and claim that Bailly is one of four candidates being considered along with Diallo, Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga and Empoli’s Mattia Vita.
