Roy Keane has labelled England defender Harry Maguire “embarrassing” for his celebration after scoring against Albania on Friday evening.
The 28-year-old opened the scoring for the Three Lions before Harry Kane bagged a first-half hat-trick. Jordan Henderson also scored in the opening 45 minutes to put England 5-0 up at half-time.
In celebrating his goal, Maguire cupped his ears, which Keane has claimed is “embarrassing” after his ‘disgraceful’ recent form for Manchester United.
During ITV‘s half-time coverage, Keane said: “He thinks he’s shutting the critics up. But I think It’s embarrassing. He’s been a disgrace the last couple months for Man Utd. He thinks if he scores there, he’s going to shut his critics up. Embarrassing.”
It has been a difficult season for Maguire – who is perhaps suffering from a Euro 2020 ‘hangover’ – with Man Utd struggling for form in the Premier League.

The Red Devils sit sixth in the table having only won one of their previous six league encounters.
Maguire – alongside fellow England international Luke Shaw – have both been in the centre of criticism amidst United’s poor form.
However, John Barnes has claimed “nothing is going wrong at the back for Manchester United” this season and reckons Liverpool would have the same issues if they left their defence isolated.
Barnes told BonusCodeBets: “Nothing is going wrong at the back for Manchester United. They just don’t defend as a complete team.
“If Liverpool left their back four to defend, and no one else in the team tried to get back and help, then Liverpool would concede goals.
“Manchester United don’t play as a team, defend as a team, and it’s so blatantly obvious. When they go forward, they play incredibly well, and they have top-class individuals that can win them matches. But unless you defend will all 11 players, giving 100% effort when they are out of possession, which they don’t, they will continue to ship goals and be inconsistent.
“They may continue to score and play attacking football, but they’ll still concede. Unless they resolve that situation, they’ll always be inconsistent, because they’ll rely on individuals to score the goals.”
