Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted he is ‘barely smart enough’ to focus on one game at a time, let alone the title race.
Liverpool can close the gap to Manchester City back to three points when they take on West Ham on Saturday evening with City playing on Sunday in the Manchester derby.
Cheeky tips Leeds loss, Salah goal, Arsenal win
However, Liverpool boss Klopp has admitted that whilst he is enjoying the situation he finds himself and the club in, he would prefer not to speak about the title race.
Speaking to the media ahead of welcoming the Hammers to Anfield, Klopp said: “I’m enjoying this situation we’re in but I don’t enjoy the questions about it because it’s constant and it’s like we’ve won the games already. If we lose tomorrow you’ll all sit here and tell me the race is over. I don’t have the capacity for all these scenarios.”
Having won the Carabao Cup win at Wembley last weekend, much has been made of Liverpool’s quadruple chances but Klopp is just taking it one game at a time.
“I cannot think about what we can win. I’m barely smart enough for enough focus for one game.
“We are not in the worst moment but we have so many challenges ahead.

“I am not in a chasing mood, I just hope we’re ready for West Ham.”
West Ham boss David Moyes arrives on Merseyside on Saturday having never won at Anfield but Klopp was quick to praise the job he has done at Everton and now West Ham after admitting he would love that run to continue.
“Moyes never won at Anfield? Long may it continue. I am sure he was close a few times. I am really pleased for him he’s a nice colleague. After a successful spell at Everton, he is making smart transfers at West Ham. They’re a strong side.”
Whilst Moyes has never won at Anfield, his West Ham side did beat the Reds earlier this season and Klopp has revealed his side were not themselves that day.
“In the game v West Ham we were not ourselves so we should make it much more difficult for the other team to score than we did that day.”
Ahead of the West Ham clash, Klopp revealed he would be without a number of key first team stars for visit of Moyes’ side.
“Strength in depth is important but we have some who aren’t available. Pretty sure Thiago is not available. Curtis [Jones] is not bad but good enough for tomorrow? We’ll see. [Joel] Matip is ill, not Covid.”
