Leeds United star Raphinha has been backed by ex-Man Utd midfielder Kleberson to make an impact in La Liga amid reports linking him with Liverpool.
The winger signed for Leeds from French outfit Rennes ahead of their return to the Premier League in 2020.
Since this move, Raphinha has been a breakout star in the top flight as he has shone for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Ten unlikely English European qualifiers and how they fared…
West Ham United attempted to sign Raphinha in January for around £50m. He has also been linked with a move to Liverpool.
Raphinha’s compatriot Kleberson – who played for Man United between 2003 and 2005 – believes the Leeds man would be “suited” to La Liga:
“It’s going to be really hard for Leeds United to keep Raphinha,” Kleberson said (via The Express).
“A few months ago, many people thought that he was a good player, but he wasn’t rated that highly.
“However, after scoring for the Brazilian national team and emerging as Leeds’ best player, people are now talking about him.
“It’s going to be really hard for Leeds to keep him because there will be offers.
“Brazilians are always looking for a move away and a new challenge. They do well – then they look for their next challenge.
“He will leave the Premier League, but it would be hard for him to move to a Champions League club and receive the same amount of game time.
“I like the way he plays. But when I watch him in the Premier League and for the Brazilian national team, he is a different player.
“His style would suit a team in La Liga so I could see him moving to Spain.”
Earlier this month, the player insisted that he is focused on doing his best for Bielsa’s team:
“I’ve got a contract until 2024, my head is totally here and focused on Leeds. As for contractual matters, I leave them to my agent and my dad,” Raphinha told BBC Radio Leeds.
“I just focus on playing my football and making the Leeds fans happy. Scoring goals, providing assists and getting victories for the team.
“Contractual matters are for my agent, my focus is on making people happy with my football and doing as best as I can for Leeds.”
