Liverpool ‘hot’ on West Ham star with the player ‘keen’ on transfer

Liverpool want to bring West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen to Anfield in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The former Hull City man has contributed eight goals and eight assists in 29 matches in all competitions for the Hammers this campaign.

In recent months he has been linked with a move to Liverpool, who are trying to tie star forward Mohamed Salah down to a new deal as soon as possible.

And now Football Insider claim that the Reds are ‘keeping close tabs’ on Bowen as they plan for the summer transfer window with the West Ham attacker ‘open to joining them’.

Bowen scored both of West Ham’s goals as they beat Norwich City 2-0 on Wednesday night and the Liverpool recruitment team ‘were at the London Stadium to run the rule over him once again’.

The report adds that Liverpool are ‘hot’ on the Englishman – who ‘is firmly on their radar’ – and Leominster-born Bowen is ‘keen’ on sorting out a deal in the summer transfer window.

Football Insider adds: ‘A January transfer is out of the question for all parties, with the Merseysiders not expected to make any major signings this month.’

Meanwhile, former England international Paul Robinson doubts a call-up for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad will be far away if Bowen keeps up his current form.

Robinson told Football Insider: “He’s just been magnificent of late. Not just over the past couple of games but all season.

“He is definitely a player who will be turning Gareth Southgate’s head. The only problem Bowen has got when it comes to the international set up is the amount of quality England have in wide areas.

“If he keeps playing the way he is though, Southgate will not be able to ignore him. He’s putting himself in an elite group of players. He just need to keep playing that well every week.

“He was such an astute signing by David Moyes, who has a history of plucking good players out of the Championship. A player that is just getting better and better.”
