Former Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli has claimed that they would not have won the Champions League or Premier League without Jordan Henderson.
Comolli was involved in the decision to sign Henderson in 2011. They paid around £20m to buy him from Sunderland.
This decision was questioned at the time but the Englishman has since silenced his doubters.

Henderson was made captain in 2015 and he has now played 428 times for Liverpool across all competitions.
The 31-year-old has been integral as the Reds have won the Premier League and Champions League in recent seasons.
The midfielder struggled with injuries last term but he has featured prominently this season. He has played 36 times across all competitions in 2021/22.
Comolli believes it was “certain” that Henderson was going to come good for Liverpool.
The Frenchman has even suggested that Liverpool would not have won the Champions League or Premier League if they did not have Henderson:
“I was even told it was a huge mistake,” Comolli said (via Sport Witness).
“But when you recruit a young player, you have to wait. Jordan was going to break through, that was certain.
“I can assure you that without him, they won’t win the Champions League or the Premier League. I am 100% convinced of that.”
Elsewhere, Brazilian football legend Rivaldo has urged Liverpool star Roberto Firmino not to leave the club, despite his reduced playing time in recent months:
“Roberto Firmino has been losing out to Diogo Jota for starts at Liverpool and Luis Diaz is another threat to his time on the pitch.
“Plenty of people are already saying that he should leave in the summer to not compromise his place in Brazil’s World Cup squad.
“But I disagree with that. Once he’s back from injury he should keep battling to recover his starting position at Liverpool because he still has the quality.
“Signing for a new club so close to the World Cup is a big risk with no guarantee that he will be a certain starter, so, I suppose the best for him is to stay in Liverpool and convince Jurgen Klopp again.”
