Man City Haaland ‘movements’ forces competition into action

Manchester City’s ‘movements’ to sign Erling Haaland have reportedly ‘accelerated’ talks from their competition for the Borussia Dortmund star.

Haaland’s £68m release clause comes into effect this summer and he has been widely tipped to leave the Bundesliga club.

Chelsea were linked with a move before they signed Romelu Lukaku in the summer, Manchester United will likely be interested in their search for a top class striker, while City’s failure to land Harry Kane last summer means they still have an opening for a new No.9.

And Sport (via Sport Witness) claim ‘movements’ from Pep Guardiola’s side have ‘accelerated’ Real Madrid’s bid to land the Norway international.

The report states Florentino Perez is now confident of Haaland’s move to the La Liga club after they ‘rushed for talks with all their arsenal’.

Barcelona are said to have made similar enquiries into Haaland, but Madrid are currently leading the charge.

Meanwhile, former United midfielder Paul Ince claims the Red Devils made a mistake not signing Haaland in the summer.

“When Ole first took the helm the project was about going young but all of a sudden they were bringing in 37-year-olds,” Ince told The Sun.

“You think, ‘why didn’t you just go and get Haaland?’ You didn’t need Ronaldo, but it’s just the fact that everyone thought he was going to Man City.

“Everyone thought it was great when he first came and if it wasn’t for Ronaldo, they wouldn’t still be in the Champions League.

“People were saying he would be great for the club, the players and the youngsters. We thought that would be the case but the example he is setting, by throwing his toys out of the pram, is a bad one. Why would you listen to someone who is prepared to act the way he is?

“As we’ve seen on numerous occasions – running down the tunnel, not clapping fans, sulking – it’s not a good example to set.

“I get the frustration but you’ve got to take that out behind closed doors, not in full view of the fans and cameras.”
