Manchester United have called an emergency board meeting to discuss the future of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a humiliating defeat against Watford.
United were hammered thanks to goals from Josh King, Ismaila Sarr, Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis. Donny van de Beek scored for United whilst Harry Maguire was sent off.
The loss adds to the 5-0 defeat they suffered at home to Liverpool last month, as well as the 2-0 loss to Manchester City in the derby.

According to The Sunday Times, the virtual meeting has been scheduled for 7pm with Solskjaer’s compensation terms on its agenda.
The Sunday Times continues by saying ‘the Glazer family has also instructed club officials to further accelerate attempts to persuade Zinedine Zidane to take over the managerial position mid-season, increasing United’s financial offer to the three-times Champions League winning coach.’
“I feel for the fans and I feel the same as them, we’re embarrassed losing the way we did. We are in a very bad run and bad situation but that’s part of football. They’ll support the team and whoever is on the pitch and sometimes you have to say sorry and that was a sorry for the performance,” said the Norwegian.
Solskjaer continued: “Very hurt – when you play in the Premier League you have got to turn up against good players and good opposition like this. The boys are in a terrible place in their heads now – we have let ourselves down and the fans down. It’s hard to stand here and explain that but that’s football and we have to take the flack for it.”
Man Utd goalkeeper David de Gea also spoke after the game, also stating his embarrassment.
“It was embarrassing – the way we played today. The first half was very poor – it’s not acceptable for this club and the level of players that we have. It’s another nightmare. There’s been some difficulties but I don’t really know what to say.
“I have been in difficult moments with this club but we are in a difficult situation – we don’t know what to do with the ball, we are conceding a lot of goals. It’s a horrible moment.”
