David Moyes insists he is “thrilled” with West Ham’s point against Newcastle as “it might be as bad as we’ve played this season”.
Craig Dawson – who partnered Kurt Zouma in centre defence – opened the scoring before Joe Willock equalised for the Geordies.

The result puts another dent in the Hammers’ push for the Champions League places, whereas it continues relegation-threatened Newcastle’s revival.
“I’m thrilled with a point. It might be as bad as we’ve played this season,” Moyes told BT Sport.
“I’ve had words with the players on other days. I didn’t think it was needed today. Our levels need to come back up. I think if we improve individually, we’ll improve as a team.
“I didn’t take anything else away from the game today. Intensity we’ve got and I don’t think physicality has been a problem. Our ball retention, turnovers, not playing as well with the ball as we have done, not being as clinical in small moments – those things would come to mind before the physical side of things.
On Newcastle’s equaliser, Moyes added: “I don’t know how many people missed it. We didn’t deal with the ball into the box at all well.”
On top-four race: “I can’t say what the other teams are doing. All I can hope is that we keep picking points up. We got a point out of it today. We’ll take that and move on, but individually we’ll have to start stepping up to the mark.”
West Ham defender Dawson, told BT Sport: “It was a game of few chances. To take the lead and let is slip just before half-time was disappointing.
“They had a couple of chances and on that occasion we didn’t quite clear our lines. The message at half-time was to try and get at them a little bit more. It’s unlike ourselves, but Newcastle are on a good run. A point was probably fair in the end.
“It’s disappointing to pick up a couple of draws in a row, but we’ll get back to the training ground and see what happens next week.”
