Newcastle United are still interested in Dele Alli and have made a late attempt to beat Everton to his signing, according to reports.
Alli joined Spurs in 2015 from MK Dons and immediately hit the ground running at White Hart Lane.
In his debut Premier League season he scored ten and assisted nine in 33 appearances and was named as PFA Young Player of the Year.

In 2016/17, Alli scored 18 goals and assisted nine times in 37 league matches, once again winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
The attacking midfielder’s statistics have gradually declined since then and last season he only made 29 appearances in all competitions, scoring three times.
He has struggled for game time this campaign and has not played for England since the Three Lions’ UEFA Nations League third-place play-off win against Switzerland in 2019.
Alli was omitted from Spurs’ squad to face Chelsea in their last match before the recent break and now he is on the verge of a move elsewhere.
Widespread reports claimed earlier today that Everton had agreed a fee to bring Alli to Goodison Park with the deal an initial free transfer with ‘€12m after 20 games and bonuses for next years’ up to €40m.
Fabrizio Romano had insisted that the contracts were being signed but now The Athletic journalist David Ornstein claims that Newcastle have now made a ‘ dramatic late attempt to pip’ Everton the Tottenham midfielder’s signature.
It is ‘unclear whether their late move will be successful’ with Newcastle proposing ‘a loan deal’ to beat Everton to his signing.
Meanwhile, former Premier League boss Neil Warnock made it clear earlier this month that Alli had to leave Tottenham before the end of the window.
“He’s got to go,” Warnock told talkSPORT. “I’ll be honest with you, though, when you look at Dele Alli, if you put him in Man City’s team you would see a different player.
“You’ve got to have a decent back line to start with. Tottenham haven’t had a decent back line for ages.
“He roves in a No.10 role and he’s as good as anything when he was. But they’re not getting that ball, they’re having to fight for everything to get a look in.
“They are not good enough at the back, so it opens all the positions. That’s why he’s got to go. He will find somewhere as he’s a good player when he’s on, but he’s just gone backwards.”
