Report reveals Ronaldo role in Ole’s imminent sacking at Man Utd

The Man Utd board have been paying close attention to Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘feelings’ as they make a decision over the future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to reports.

The Red Devils travelled to Vicarage Road having lost four of their last six Premier League games before the international break and this heavy defeat only piled more misery on the beleaguered Norwegian.

Reports emerged later on Saturday evening that the Man Utd board had called an emergency virtual board meeting to discuss Solskjaer’s position at Old Trafford.

And further reports since have claimed that they have now made the decision to sack Solskjaer with the Glazers signing it off.

And the Independent now claim that ‘United executives have been growing increasingly concerned about the mood of the players’.

Ronaldo has scored nine goals in 13 appearances since his return to the club but he has cut a frustrated figure at times this season.

And the report adds: ‘Most have long felt a change was required. Particular attention has also been paid to Cristiano Ronaldo’s feelings, and he has been increasingly anguished by the nature of displays.’

After the heavy 4-1 defeat to newly-promoted Watford, Solskjaer admitted his side’s mentality had to be questioned.

Solskjaer said: “The first half was very very poor, we need to get the players in a better frame of mind to start the game because in the second half when it seemed like they had nothing to lose, they played well.

“I’ve got to say you’re surprised because all of these lads are good lads and top players, but when it’s not going well it’s hard to play with that mental break. In the second half when we had nothing to lose they played fantastically and scored a good goal but of course it wasn’t enough.”
