Rodgers responds to Leicester star picking PL trio among his ‘dream’ clubs

Brendan Rodgers has responded after Leicester City star Wesley Fofana named Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd as “dream” clubs.

The Foxes paid around £36m to sign Fofana from French side Saint-Etienne last year.

The 20-year-old ended up being a key figure for Leicester last term. He was one of the Premier League’s breakout stars as he featured 38 times across all competitions.

It was reported on Thursday that Chelsea are interested in making a move for Fofana.

As cited by GOAL, Fofana has named the “dream” clubs he wants to play for:

“There is Marseille, Real Madrid, Barcelona.

“In the Premier League, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City… but you have to work to achieve your dreams. Through work, you can succeed in it all.”

This came after (as reported by the Leicester Mercury) Kasper Schmeichel admitted that he wants to play for another club before he retires.

Rodgers has responded to these comments, saying that every player will want to play at the “highest level”:

“Kasper has been such a great servant for the club,” Rodgers said.

“He’s been first class since I’ve come here, but over that 10-year period, he’s been sensational for the club. I’ve not got no worries over Kasper’s mentality and commitment.

“I’ve not seen either of the interviews so I can’t really comment but Wesley, you see how comfortable he is in the environment, and the great strides he has made in a short period of time.

“Every player will have ambitions to be at the highest level, but it doesn’t mean they’re always thinking about leaving here to do that.

“This is a club that is ambitious. The two players are very committed to doing that. We’re a group that has won silverware and we want to see if we can win some more.

“Both of those players are first class. Wesley is committed to here and we can’t wait to have him back, and with Kasper, his story shows a commitment to here. But there’s nothing wrong with having that ambition to play at the very highest level.”
