The Reds are set to be without Salah this month as he is featuring for Egypt at the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The 29-year-old started as Eqypt were beaten 1-0 by Nigeria in their opening group game on Tuesday.

Klopp has told reporters that there is “nothing to worry about” regarding Salah:

“We know, I know that Mo wants to stay, we want him to stay. That’s where we are. These things take time, I cannot change it. It’s all in a good place,” as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“I am positive about it. The fans are not as nervous as you are. They know the club and know the people dealing with things here. We cannot say anything about it.

“Things take time, there are so many things in negotiations. It’s a third party too with the agent, it’s nothing to worry about; it’s a normal process. We always talk about it but there’s nothing to say.

“Of course we want to keep him. Now let’s see how it will work out. That’s all.

“His character, attitude and work rate is incredible. First in, last out, doing the right stuff. He knows his body, he listens to experts and tries to improve all the time, he worked so hard for this situation. He will not waste it by doing less.”

Liverpool host Arsenal in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Thursday. Klopp believes Mikel Arteta is doing an “exceptional job” with the Gunners:

“Mikel is doing an exceptional job there, having a lot of young boys in, and a front three is really exciting to watch. A clear idea, I think they have improved a lot between then (4-0 in November) and now. A tricky draw.”

On Liverpool’s “false positive” Covid tests, Klopp added: “It’s a positive test. When you are able to do a re-test, a day or one and a half days afterwards, it is negative. You then need to do a third test. And between the first and second, and second and third test, we can’t use the players.

“When we got the first results, we had to consider it was the right result.”
