Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed he would be very angry if games were being postponed for injuries and AFCON rather than Covid positive results.
There have been a number of Premier League fixtures postponed in recent weeks with the reasoning being that teams were unable to fulfil a squad due to Covid results, injuries and the African Cup of Nations.
However, Tuchel is now hoping that teams aren’t abusing the rules in order to play fixtures when they have players back from injury and international duty.
“I strongly, strongly hope that is not the case because I would be very angry. We are doing everything to make games happen and we were made to play when we thought we maybe should not. So I can only strongly hope the rules are the same for everybody.”
The Blues boss was also asked if there was a possibility of Ruben Loftus-Cheek going out on loan this January, but Tuchel believes he still has a big part to play.
“We haven’t talked about it.
“He has a lot of game time I would say, if you look at last year and this season.

“He has a lot to fight for here in my personal opinion.”
There have been reports of Chelsea recalling some of there loan players in order to support a depleted squad. Brazilian Kenedy has returned this week with Chelsea also keen on brining back Emerson from his loan at Lyon.
“This will happen behind closed doors when we have something to announce about bringing players back.
“It’s not only about the need to bring players back but also about the possibility.
“Kenedy is back an I’m very happy. It is a huge opportunity for him to make his mark at this club.
“We will try to push and support him as good as we can.”
Chelsea take on Manchester City on Saturday afternoon and Tuchel was asked if he tries to learn from City boss Pep Guardiola whop got the better of him earlier this season.
“I try to learn from every opponent. I have a lot of respect for Pep, everyone knows that, but I learn from all the coaches. From everybody and the players.
On the defeat earlier this season, Tuchel added: “My approach was the wrong approach, it made us too passive and defensive. It wasn’t meant like this but it turned out like this. So lesson learned.”
