Arsenal legend Ian Wright “believes” Liverpool are still capable of winning the Premier League title this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sit nine points adrift of league leaders Manchester City.
Liverpool do still have a game in hand over their rivals. City have not been beaten in 13 games across all competitions.
An XI of players we can’t believe started the opening weekend
The Reds meanwhile have not lost this year. Their last defeat came against Leicester City on December 28.
Liverpool and Man City face Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur respectively this weekend. City host Klopp’s team at the Etihad on April 9 in the Premier League:
“I still think that Liverpool believe that they might be able to still do it (win the Premier League),” Wright said on the Kelly and Wrighty Show.
“I fancy that Liverpool will probably think they can do the Champions League as well. I’m not going to write Liverpool off, I’m going to go with Liverpool (to win the league).”
Elsewhere, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the fitness of forward Diogo Jota:
Liverpool take on Norwich on Saturday afternoon and whilst Klopp has revealed they will be without Jota, they are still waiting to see how long the Portuguese forward will be out for.
“No, he will not be available. We need further assessment. Some ligaments around the ankle. Everything is possible. It could go quick or the other way. We have to wait.”
Klopp also praised Mohamed Salah, who can hit the 150 goal mark for Liverpool against Norwich on Saturday, labelling his goal return for the Reds as ‘insane’.
“I am only seven years here. The club is so much older with so many great players. This team is one of the better ones and Mo has played a big part in that. His number are insane. You say 150, only recently we spoke about 100!”
The Liverpool boss was also quick to praise another of his attacking options in Roberto Firmino:
“Bobby could be in each XI every single day because of his quality. It was one of the most away goals we’ve scored. It calmed everything down and we got the momentum back.”
