£80m La Liga star ‘perfect’ for Liverpool, claims former player

Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak, who has an £80m release clause, would be “perfect” for Liverpool, according to their former player Jose Enrique.

The forward has been linked with a move to Liverpool as well as several of their Premier League rivals of late.

The former Borussia Dortmund star joined Sociedad in 2019. He has scored 38 times from his 101 outings for the Spanish outfit. This includes 17 from his 34 La Liga appearances in 2020/21.

Isak made a name for himself at this year’s European Championships as Sweden reached the knockout stages of the tournament.

The 22-year-old has scored six goals across all competitions this season. As reported by the Metro, Enrique has encouraged Liverpool to sign Isak:

“For me, I know January is a difficult transfer window because sometimes people buy in panic.

“But definitely I would go for one player who can play across the front three.

“I love Isak from Real Sociedad, I think they should have signed him in the summer before he signed a new deal with Sociedad.

“Now will be difficult but if they go with the right amount of money, definitely he is a player, he’s 22, a big lad, quick, strong, good one vs one, can play on the wings as well as a number nine, he defends.

“There’s a lot of options out there don’t get me wrong, but he is one of the main options for me.

“Isak is definitely perfect for Liverpool’s profile of signings, a young player, not spending 100’s of millions you’re going to spend £50-60m, definitely I would go for him.”

Speaking last month, Isak admitted that it “would be nice” to play in the Premier League:

“I’m in a good place at the moment, I’m very happy, but one day it would be nice to play in England as well,” Isak said.

“They have six or seven of the biggest clubs in the world, it’s a very high level, and of course one day it would be an alternative.

“Every player wants to be the best version of themselves and reach the highest possible level.

“I have expectations for myself that I’m trying to fulfil, so we’ll see where the journey takes me in future.”
