Ancelotti claims he’ll let wantaway Madrid stars leave amid Hazard links

Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that “if a player wants to leave, he is going to” amid reports linking Eden Hazard with a move from Real Madrid to Chelsea.

Hazard has struggled with injuries since he joined Real Madrid in 2019. He played a total of 30 times for them in his first two seasons.

The winger has been in and out of the team so far this season. He has only started four times in La Liga from Madrid’s eleven outings.

F365 says: Hazard homecoming more than nostalgia for Chelsea

The Belgium international has been linked with a move back to Chelsea in recent weeks.

As reported by The Athletic, Ancelotti has suggested that he has never “forced a player” to stay at a club:

“I have never in my coaching career forced a player who wants to leave to stay,” Ancelotti said.

“In my personal opinion, there is no question about it. If a player wants to leave, he is going to leave. There is not much doubt about this.”

Last month, Hazard admitted that his start at Madrid has “not been good”:

“I signed with Real Madrid for five seasons. The first two have not been good, the injuries have not helped me, but I still have three more to prove my worth.

“I hope it works, I hope to get up one morning and feel great on the training ground. If I feel pain there, I drag it to the games and I will continue to have it. I am waiting for that moment when I can show my worth again.

“Real Madrid have already spent a lot of money on me. I want to give something back to them.

“People think that I am always injured. That is the truth. But if you review my career there is not a player who, for a period of 10 years, has played as many games as I have.

“I do what I have to do. I work daily with the physio. That’s what I do. Since the beginning of the season we have done a great job with the physical trainer.

“At the moment it is going well, I am feeling better, but I am not completely 100% still. I hope we continue like this.”
