Arsenal outcast ‘assessing his options’ ahead of January window

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is “assessing his options” ahead of the winter transfer window, according to reports.

The Gabon international has not featured for the Gunners since he was stripped of the captaincy earlier this month.

He has missed four matches so far; Premier League wins against Southampton, West Ham and Leeds as well as the Carabao Cup victory over Sunderland.

Arsenal first to be stung by brave new world of Crypto

Arsenal have not missed a beat without their former skipper, who is unlikely to return to training until after the African Cup of Nations.

With his future in north London uncertain, Aubameyang is assessing his options ahead of the January window, according to football.london.

The report adds that Mikel Arteta ‘wants to avoid a repeat of the situation with Mesut Ozil from last season’.

Ozil was not included in Arsenal’s Europa League or Premier League squads but still regularly trained with the first team despite Arteta’s lack of intention of playing the midfielder.

Transfer journalist Ekrem Konur also reported that Aubameyang is keen on leaving the Gunners, with interest coming from Spain, Italy and England.

The player’s £350,000 wages could be a potential stumbling block to many clubs in Europe. Arsenal could contribute towards Aubameyang’s salary to help offload him, however.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are ready to bring Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic to the Emirates Stadium now but there could be an issue, according to reports in Italy.

The 21-year-old has scored 18 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign to take his tally to 47 goals in 104 appearances for the Serie A club.

The striker has been linked with the Gunners, Manchester United, Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund and others but Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) suggest Arsenal are particularly serious about landing the former Partizan Belgrade youngster.

The report claims that the Gunners are ‘ready to pay’ the €80m (£68m) which Fiorentina want for their most prized asset ‘immediately’.

However, Vlahovic is determined to stay until the end of the current season as he aims to help the Viola – who are currently seventh in Serie A – qualify for Europe.
