GK: Vicente Guaita – 5.83
The Crystal Palace keeper’s score is a reflection more of his inactivity than anything he might have done wrong. Guita stood little chance with Teemu Pukki’s opener in the first minute, with the Norwich striker’s shot finding the net via the inside of the post. Aside from that, the Spaniard had no saves to make and didn’t leave his line to claim a cross.
RB: Mason Holgate – 5.03
The Everton defender wasn’t the only Toffee to have a stinker at St James’ Park. Holgate played a key part in Everton’s opener, but immediately ruined his good work by putting through his own goal in unfortunate circumstances. Seemed unsettled by his stroke of misfortune and looked shaky in the second half.
CB: Ezri Konsa – 4.58
Konsa wasn’t even Villa’s worst centre-back – that dubious honour belongs to Tyrone Mings after the England defender was at fault for two of Leeds’ goals. But somehow Mings scored a 7.69, Villa’s third-highest score behind Jacob Ramsey and Philippe Coutinho. Konsa, who completed 96 per cent of his passes and won three of his four duels, sees his rating suffer for the red card he received late on as a result of two bookings.

CB: Jan Bednarek – 5.92
A few of the Spurs lads might be relieved to see the Saint in ahead of them after Southampton came from behind at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs struck first when Bednarek let Heung-min Son run across him at the near post and in his panicked retreat, the centre-back slid the ball into his own net. Bednarek recovered pretty well after that, winning five of his seven duels on the deck and in the air.
LB: Rico Henry – 5.94
The left-back was actually the highest scorer in Football.London‘s player ratings for Brentford’s players in the 2-0 defeat at Manchester City. ‘Magnificent,’ so he was. But… algorithms.
CM: Mads Roerslev – 5.49
All Brentford’s solid defensive work in the first half at the Etihad was undone when Roerslev tripped Raheem Sterling in the box to give City the penalty that broke the Bees’ resistance. The 22-year-old recovered his composure in the second half but by then the damage was done.
Premier League midweek winners and losers
CM: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall 5.66
Playing in a defensive midfield role against Liverpool, the Leicester youngster managed neither a tackle nor an interception. In possession Dewsbury-Hall had more touches than any visiting Fox but offered little in the way of penetration.
CM: Przemyslaw Placheta – 6.05
The 22-year-old struggled for just over an hour in Norwich’s midfield against Palace before being hooked. In 64 minutes, Placheta managed not a key pass, cross, shot or successful dribble. The Pole had 22 touches with which he lost possession eight times.
RF: Maxwel Cornet – 5.93
Cornet spent most of his time on the left wing against Manchester United but the Frenchman lasted only three-quarters of the game, for most of which he was well shackled by Diogo Dalot. No shots, no accurate crosses, no successful dribbles and 17 possession turnovers. Not his night.
CF: Patson Daka – 5.81
The Leicester forward spent an hour in Virgil van Dijk’s pocket, escaping occasionally only to lose possession nine times with 18 touches. No successful dribbles, no shots or crosses attempted before Brendan Rodgers replaced him with Kelechi Iheanacho.
LF: Gabriel Martinelli – 4.79
Arsenal fans will p*ss and moan about a daft red card but they were almost playing with 10 men anyway with Martinelli on the pitch. In 69 minutes, he found a teammate with one of eight crosses, offered no shots or key passes and was successful with only two of 13 attempted dribbles, yet was dribbled past on four occasions, while losing possession 16 times.
