‘Done deal’ – Barcelona ‘priority’ seals £55m move from Man City

Barcelona have “completed” the signing of Manchester City forward Ferran Torres for a fee that could rise to £55m, according to reports.

The attacker joined Man City ahead of the 2020/21 campaign. He signed for the English side from Valencia for around £20m.

Torres was a standout player for City last season as they won the Premier League and Carabao Cup. He scored 13 goals across all competitions.

The Spaniard is currently unavailable as he suffered a fractured foot in October. He has only started seven games across all competitions this term.

It was reported earlier this week that Torres was “edging closer” to joining Barcelona.

Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has now revealed via Twitter that his move to the Spanish giants is now complete:

“Ferran Torres to Barcelona, done deal confirmed and here we go! The agreement has been completed for €55m plus €10m add ons (£55m in total) to Manchester City.

“Ferran will sign a five year deal as new Barcelona players in the coming hours. He’s always been the priority for Xavi.

“He could be in Barcelona tomorrow for a medical and contract signing. Barcelona already working on a statement to be released together with Man City.

“Club now working on protocols with Ferran agents to plan for his arrival in Spain, possibly in 24 hours.”

Elsewhere, Roy Keane has backed Manchester City to win the Premier League this season:

“We did a game last year. I didn’t write off City, but I said they lost their mojo. Then they won the league like a doddle.

“I know they put in the hard work, but they won it from United being second. I’d never bet against City, I’ve learned my lesson from last year.

“It doesn’t mean Liverpool and Chelsea can’t pip them to the title, but Pep’s the man.

“I look at all the managers and he’s the best.

“You look at Pep’s CV and people say ‘he’s got the best players’, but you still have to manage them, find a style of play. If you were going to pick a team to watch, it’d be Man City.”
