Dortmund ‘to schedule meeting’ with Haaland to discuss future

Transfer-linked striker Erling Haaland will meet with Borussia Dortmund in the coming days to discuss his future, according to reports.

The Norwegian signed for Dortmund in 2020 for £18million and has scored 76 goals in 75 matches for the Bundesliga outfit.

He has been linked with numerous clubs across Europe in recent months and will reportedly be available for £64m in the summer when a release clause becomes active.

Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, has consistently added fuel to the transfer fire, and earlier this month named the clubs able to sign him.

Speaking to Sport1, Raiola said: “He can and will take the next step. Bayern, Real, Barcelona, City — those are the big clubs he can go to. City has won the championship five times in recent years, significantly more than United. We all knew when we moved to Dortmund that this step would come.”

However, Dortmund are eager for Haaland to come to a decision on his future, and will schedule a meeting this week with the 21-year-old, claim AS (via 90min).

The German club have a gentleman’s agreement to sell him at the end of the 2021/22 season, but want to keep the striker beyond then.

The report adds that Dortmund are prepared to offer Haaland a huge salary, around £14m per season.

His new deal would allow him to leave in 2023, with the £64m release clause being significantly increased.

If Haaland does leave Dortmund in the summer, they are reportedly interested in replacing him with RB Salzburg forward Karim Adeyemi.

Elsewhere, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was frustrated with the lack of hand sanitiser as he sat down to conduct his post-match press conference at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Six of the ten matches due to be played in the top flight last weekend were postponed because of Covid-19 outbreaks within clubs, with the number of positive cases leaping by 48 in the space of a week.

Tottenham were recently hit hard with cases as their fixtures against Rennes, Brighton and Leicester City all had to be postponed.

And Klopp was shocked at the lack of hand sanitiser on offer during his press conference after Liverpool held Tottenham to a 2-2 draw on Sunday.

The Liverpool boss said: “I really think in this room there should be hand sanitiser. I honestly think that would be good.

“You know, you had around about 13 cases or whatever. I have to touch a chair.”
