Gossip: AC Milan look to hijack transfer as Liverpool hold ‘new talks’

AC Milan want to beat Liverpool to a Championship attacker, while Real Madrid have pulled out the race for Erling Haaland…

FRESH CARVALHO TALKS
Liverpool are set to hold new talks this month as they look to tie up a summer deal for Fulham attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho, according to reports.

It was reported that the 19-year-old, out of contract in the summer, was poised to join Jurgen Klopp’s side before being loaned back to the Championship club for the remainder of the season. However, a deal for the teenager, who has scored eight times in 19 appearances this term, failed to materialise before the window closed.

Klopp confirmed in midweek that Liverpool were still interested in a deal for Carvalho. The German said: “I don’t know. We will see. We are obviously still interested, it would be crazy if we are not. It’s obviously not in our hands. It was late before the deadline and it didn’t work out. We will see what happens.”

And now Football Insider claim that Liverpool ‘will hold new talks with Fulham this month over a deal for Fabio Carvalho as they look to strike an agreement well ahead of the summer’. They add that the Reds wants to have ‘a deal in place before Carvalho becomes a free agent’ and the Fulham youngster has his ‘heart set on a move to Anfield and has already undergone a medical – which took place on Monday – as well as agreed personal terms on a long-term contract’.

Liverpool had agreed an £8m fee before the transfer collapsed on deadline day and both clubs are ‘keen to avoid the transfer fee being decided by an independent tribunal’.

But Calciomercato insists that Serie A giants AC Milan are looking to hijack a deal for Carvalho with the Italian club willing to offer him ‘the possibility of being a protagonist right away’. The Milan recruitment team ‘have been active with his representatives in recent weeks’ but the report admits that Liverpool are still ‘on pole’.

FRESH HAALAND HOPE FOR PL TRIO
Real Madrid have withdrawn from the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland this summer, according to reports.

Haaland is available for £68m at the end of the season when a release clause in his contract at Dortmund becomes active. A number of clubs from around Europe have been linked with a bargain move for a striker who has scored 80 times in 79 outings for the German club since joining.

Reports in recent months had suggested that Spanish giants Real Madrid were leading the race to sign the Norway international but the Daily Star now claims that Los Blancos have ‘decided that they cannot afford Haaland’ and pulled out.

That has put Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea ‘on red alert’ after being ‘made aware of the latest twist in the transfer scrap by Haaland’s super-agent Mino Raiola’. Real have decided the £300m package required to land Haaland will be too much for them with Kylian Mbappe set to arrive from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
