With Nuno set to be sacked by Tottenham, the race is on to replace him. Also: PSG want rid of Sergio Ramos already…
FOUR NAMES IN RUNNING TO REPLACE NUNO
It emerged on Sunday that Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici were meeting to discuss the possibility of sacking Nuno and though the outcome of those talks isn’t yet clear, the focus has already turned to who will replace the Tottenham boss.
In the short term, Ryan Mason could be asked to take over once more. The former midfielder stepped in to steer Spurs through to the end of the season when Jose Mourinho was axed in April.
Football Insider reckons Mason will be reappointed on a caretaker basis until Christmas to give Levy and Paratici time to make a permanent appointment.
Tottenham may move again for Antonio Conte. The former Chelsea boss was one of 427 managers to hold talks with Spurs during the summer and Tuttomercato reckons Levy will make Conte an offer.
The Evening Standard says Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao are also under consideration. Fonseca is available having been heavily linked with the Newcastle job, while Conceicao is currently in charge at Porto.
BARCA KEEN TO BORROW VAN DE BEEK
While Spurs were having their bellies tickled by Manchester United on Saturday evening, Donny van de Beek was once again watching from the sidelines.
The Holland midfielder seems certain to leave Old Trafford in January, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer steadfastly refusing to play the £35million signing.
Sport reckons Barcelona could be an option for Van de Beek. Barca need a midfielder with the 24-year-old’s profile – if anyone can remember what that looks like – but, of course, the Catalans are broke.
So any move to the Nou Camp would initially have to be a loan deal with the option to make it a permanent arrangement further down the line, which is unlikely to suit United if they want to claw back some of their money.
REAL, PSG LINKED WITH POGBA
United are set to lose another midfielder in the New Year, with Paul Pogba’s contract up at the end of the season.
Marca says Real Madrid are continuing to track Pogba, with Real also keen on Antonio Rudiger, who will become a free agent at the same time unless Chelsea can convince the Germany defender to recommit.
Le10Sport links PSG with Pogba, though the Parisians are more preoccupied with unpicking the contract they made with another big-name freebie…
PSG LOOK TO WRIGGLE OUT OF RAMOS DEAL
Sergio Ramos is yet to feature for PSG having arrived from Real Madrid in the summer.
Injury problems have kept the former Spain centre-back on the sidelines and the club are growing increasingly impatient.
Le Parisien says PSG feel they were misled over Ramos’s fitness and could look for a way out of the two-year deal they gave the veteran.
