Gossip: Newcastle to go back for Bayern, Arsenal stars

Newcastle aren’t giving up on signing Thomas Muller, while Bayern Munich look set to raid Chelsea for a replacement for a Dortmund-bound defender…

NEWCASTLE WILL GO AGAIN FOR MULLER
Newcastle were reported to have been interested in Thomas Muller last month. Despite receiving no encouragement from Bayern Munich or the forward, it seems the Magpies aren’t taking no for an answer.

Muller will go into the summer entering the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena and Newcastle apparently believe the veteran can be swayed into a move to the North East. Assuming they stay up.

Bild says contact has been re-established between the Toon and Bayern but it is understood that a move to St James’ Park simply doesn’t appeal to Muller, who is keen to remain in the Champions League and among Europe’s elite.

Newcastle are also expected to go back for another Germany international they failed to sign last month. Bernd Leno remains stuck on the Arsenal bench, but the Toon are set to make another offer for the ‘keeper, who will be desperate to get away from the Emirates in time for the World Cup at the end of the year.

BAYERN TARGET CHELSEA FREEBIE
Bayern are eyeing their own raid on the Premier League in the wake of yesterday’s news about Niklas Sule.

The giant defender is out of contract at the end of this season and it was confirmed that Sule has an agreement in place to join Borussia Dortmund from July 1.

Chelsea were reportedly among the clubs keen to take Sule, but Bayern are looking to Stamford Bridge in their search for the defender. Fichajes reckons the Bavarians want Antonio Rudiger, who will become a free agent in the summer when his current Chelsea deal expires.

Bsyern are also considering moves for Inter’s Stefan De Vrij and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Matthias Ginter.

BARCA RIVAL BLUES FOR KOUNDE
With the potential exit of three defenders at the end of their contracts, Chelsea are making plans to recruit at least one centre-back…

They have trailed Sevilla’s Jules Kounde since last summer and it was expected that the Blues would move again for the France international.

But Sport says Chelsea have competition. Apparently, Xavi is very keen on Kounde, with Barca expected to make an approach in the summer.
