Granovskaia sanctions Chelsea move for £84m Tuchel favourite

Chelsea are reportedly readying a ‘monster’ £84million bid to sign Juventus star Federico Chiesa.

The forward – who starred for Italy at Euro 2020 – is currently on loan at Juve from Fiorentina, but the Old Lady have an agreement in place to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

Thomas Tuchel is said to be a big admirer of Chiesa and TEAMtalk, citing a report in the Daily Mail, claim Blues director Marina Granovskaia will be back an attempt to sign the Italian.

Chiesa has been linked with a number of top European clubs, including Bayern Munich, but Calciomercato claim Chelsea are weighing up an £84million move.

The 24-year-old could be a replacement for Christian Pulisic, with a queue said to be building for the Chelsea forward.

The American has missed much of the season through injury, but started the impressive 4-0 Champions League win over Juventus on Tuesday.

El Nacional, as reported in the F365 gossip column, reckons Liverpool and Barcelona are jostling for position at the front of the line.

But apparently, Chelsea won’t sell to a Premier League rival, while Barca cannot afford the €50million fee it would take to purchase Pulisic. So it appears Chiesa would add to the ranks.

Chelsea have started the season superbly, and sit top of the Premier League having secured qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

And Tuchel hailed his team’s “amazing” performance as they brushed Juventus aside on Tuesday.

“We wanted to stay patient but at the same time not fall asleep. We wanted to increase the rhythm and intensity. It’s so tough to create and score but we created so much. An amazing performance and a fantastic result,” Tuchel said.

“We were sharper than in Turin, we took more risks, something we lacked in Turin. By control you cannot hurt them – you need to penetrate with runs off the ball. We were very good and scored nice goals.

“I feel very aware that we do the invisible work and when we have to defend we really defend and dig in.”
