Keane destroys three Man Utd men; tells Rashford he played like a ‘child’

Roy Keane thinks Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford “played like a child up front” in their embarrassing 4-0 loss to Liverpool on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils couldn’t get near their arch-rivals in the first half as Luis Diaz and Mo Salah gave Jurgen Klopp’s side a 2-0 lead at the break.

Man Utd briefly improved in the second half before further goals from Sadio Mane and Salah finished off Ralf Rangnick’s men.

Jesse Lingard came off the bench to replace the injured Paul Pogba after just ten minutes – but Keane was less than impressed by what he saw from him, Rashford and captain Harry Maguire.

“Jesse Lingard comes on!” Keane said on Sky Sports.

“Jesse Lingard coming on to try and save Man United, Jesse Lingard should have left Man United two years ago, he’s not good enough for Man United.

“Rashford played like a child up front. Okay it wasn’t great service, but the one or two bits he got where he was in on goal and a poor touch.

“Defensively, we were trying to help Maguire out here before the match, give him a little bit of PR, but the last goal, Maguire’s passing and defending, not acceptable, not good enough for Man United.”

Former Man Utd midfielder Keane wasn’t surprised by what he saw on Tuesday night and admitted it’s a “long way back” for the Red Devils if they want to be competing for major honours.

Keane added: “There’s no surprise at the result. Over the two games this season it’s 9-0 to Liverpool. United are so far off it – the opposite of what you want in a top team.

“There is no leadership, no characters, no fight, no determination. It’s a long way back for this club. Whatever we had when I played – that bit of pride – has gone.”
