Harvey Elliot scored in his first game back from injury as Liverpool beat Cardiff City to advance in the FA Cup.
Jurgen Klopp named a strong team against Liverpool’s Championship opponents. Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk all started.
Liverpool were dominant but they did not take the lead until the 53rd minute. Their opener came as Jota rose highest to head home Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick.
Luis Diaz and Elliot were both brought on in the 58th minute.
Diaz was involved in the build-up to Liverpool’s second goal as Takumi Minamino fired the ball into the net.
Elliot added a third soon after before Rubin Colwill pulled one back for Cardiff in the 80th minute.
Liverpool will host Dean Smith’s Norwich City in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
