Liverpool and Bayern Munich are both very keen on signing Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, with ‘important offers on the table’ for the midfielder.
De Jong moved to Barcelona from Ajax for £77million in the summer of 2019 and has struggled to find the form he showed in the Netherlands amid the upheaval at the Nou Camp.

The La Liga club’s financial difficulties may force further big name exits either in January or the summer, and Sport (via Sport Witness) report that both Liverpool and Bayern Munich are ‘crazy to sign’ De Jong.
The report explains that everything will depend on the player, who is said to not be ‘completely happy’ with the Catalan side, who were dumped out of the Champions League this week.
New boss Xavi ‘trusts him blindly’ but there has been no sign of an upswing in his performances despite the mentorship of the legendary midfielder.
There are ‘important offers on the table’ for the 24-year-old, though it’s not clear whether those offers have come from Liverpool, Bayern, or elsewhere.
Manchester United are also on the lookout for a new midfielder, with Ralf Rangnick identifying that area as a weakness of his team.
Amadou Haidara, Kalvin Phillips and Jude Bellingham were all put forward by the German boss as potential options, but former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell claims De Jong would be “excellent” for Manchester United, who have the resources to lure him from Spain.
Campbell said: “This is how football is now.If a club is struggling then there will be other teams looking to take advantage and get your best players.
“Man United have virtually unlimited resources.
“Frenkie de Jong is a top player. I’ve watched him for a couple of seasons and he would be excellent at Old Trafford.
“I think Barca are going to find it extremely hard to hold on to him.”
