Man Utd consider French freebie to replace Pogba in the summer

Man Utd are weighing up a move for Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara with Paul Pogba likely to leave in the summer, according to reports.

Pogba’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, with his contract expiring in the summer and a handful of clubs monitoring the situation.

New interim boss Ralf Rangnick would prefer for Pogba to stay, but recently admitted that he will not go out of his way to persuade him.

The tale of Jadon Sancho and Conor Gallagher…

It now seems more likely that Pogba will leave in the summer than renew his contract at Man Utd with his agent Mino Raiola hinting that an exit was imminent.

And now Man Utd could be lining up his replacement with The Athletic claiming that Kamara is ‘under consideration’ at Old Trafford.

It is understood that the Red Devils are ‘across the situation as they weigh up possibilities to bolster their midfield’ with Kamara available on a free in the summer.

The former France under-21 international has played 126 matches for Marseille over five years with the midfielder now ‘generating plenty of interest across Europe’.

Kamara’s future has been the ‘source of intense debate’ with the French club’s initial attempts to renew his deal ‘failed to satisfy the defensive midfielder’.

‘More recent attempts were deemed too late’ and the report adds that Kamara ‘has now opted to leave as a free agent at the end of the season’ with the 22-year-old ready for a ‘new challenge outside of France’.

Meanwhile, David De Gea admitted watching Man Utd team-mate Victor Lindelof struggle with his breathing during Saturday’s 1-0 win over Norwich brought up memories of Christian Eriksen and Sergio Aguero.

“As soon as it was like difficult breathing and feeling strange, the game doesn’t matter or football. First of all is life,” De Gea told Sky Sports.

“We saw some players who are feeling a bit, I don’t know what was going on, but Victor was feeling his breathing.

“We saw already Eriksen, Aguero… so it is sometimes a bit difficult to see your player acting like this so it was better to change. I hope he is completely fine.”
