Man Utd linked Poch ‘loses credit’ at PSG as he’s ‘not harsh enough’

Man Utd linked Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly “lost credit” at PSG as a result of him not being “harsh enough” with his players.

Pochettino has been heavily linked with a move to United in recent weeks.

A move to the Red Devils was mentioned during his time at Tottenham Hotspur but this never came to fruition.

Premier League winners and losers is led by Fred!

Pochettino left Spurs at the end of 2019 and he has been in charge at PSG since the start of this year.

PSG are currently eleven points clear at the top of Ligue 1. But they have picked up two straight draws against Lens and Nice.

The French giants have also secured second place in their Champions League group. They are four points behind Man City heading into the final round of fixtures.

L’Equipe (as cited by the Daily Star) are reporting that those close to Lionel Messi believe that Pochettino’s tactics are “too restrictive”.

It is also stated that PSG’s players feel that Pochettino is not “harsh enough” as he “strives to avoid” arguments on a daily basis. This has caused him to “lose credit” at the club.

Elsewhere, Ralf Rangnick has been appointed as Manchester United’s interim manager. His first game in charge was against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Man Utd won 1-0 and after the game Rangnick reserved special praise for Cristiano Ronaldo:

“I am very happy with the way the team performed, especially the first half hour, with the pressing, it was exceptional. The only thing missing was the 1-0 or 2-0,” Rangnick said.

“The way we defended, we had control of the whole game, the clean sheet was the most important part.

“These are the things we must improve. We need to keep clean sheets. With just the one training session, I was really impressed. We did much better than expected.

“We always tried to be on the front foot and we were never not apart from maybe the last five minutes. At all other times we were trying to keep them away from our goal.

“We wanted to play with two strikers, especially in the central position. By the way, Cristiano Ronaldo’s work off the ball, chapeau!

On Fred, Rangnick added: “I had to ask my assistant coach if that was Fred’s right foot. I thought he could only shoot with his left! I’m happy for him.

“It’s always easier to build on things after you’re successful. We must produce further clean sheets and get better at creating chances for our attack. Overall I was very pleased with the way we played today.”
