Man Utd linked Kieran Trippier is one of two players who are the “main names” on Newcastle United’s January wishlist, according to reports.
The Magpies are expected to be busy in the transfer market during January. They have finances at their disposal as their Saudi-led takeover was completed in October.
Newcastle need new recruits as they currently sit 19th in the Premier League. They have only picked up ten points from their opening 16 games.
Eddie Howe replaced Steve Bruce last month. He has won one of his five games in charge so far.
It has been reported that Howe is keen to sign Trippier. The defender was heavily linked with a move to Man Utd during the summer.
Fabrizio Romano has reported via Twitter that Trippier and Lille’s Sven Botman are among Newcastle’s “main” targets. The latter is reportedly valued at around £40m.
They are said to be “seriously interested” in Trippier but no deal has been agreed yet.
“Man Utd midfielder Jesse Lingard, I think, would be a great signing for someone,” Cole suggested.
“I’m sure he’s come across Newcastle’s radar. They’ll have the financial power to go and buy him.
“Kieran Tierney as well, is another who is out of the team at Arsenal, I think would be fantastic.
“I think he’s ideal for Newcastle, fits right in and he needs a new challenge. I don’t know why he’s not playing regularly at Arsenal recently.
“Aaron Ramsey over at Juventus, he looks like he wants a move. These are players for Newcastle who would tick a box.
“Who can get them over the line in January who will take them up to the next level next year?
“You want someone with Premier League experience. The bright thing for Newcastle to do in January is to buy players ready-made for the Premier League, who know the league.
“They can’t afford to sign anybody who needs time to settle in.”
