According to reports, Sevilla defender Diego Carlos asked to leave the La Liga club amidst interest from Newcastle United.
The Magpies have been linked to numerous players as they look to improve their squad in the January transfer window.
They have already brought in Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid and Chris Wood from Burnley.

A new central defender is a huge priority for the Geordies, however. They tried to bring in their number one target Sven Botman from Lille, but were unable to agree a fee with the Ligue 1 champions.
Carlos was reported to be a top target alongside Botman, and the north east club have been working hard to get the Brazilian defender in before their match against Leeds United this weekend.
Newcastle are reportedly offering the player a “potentially life-changing” contract to move to St James’ Park.
On Tuesday, Luke Edwards at the Daily Telegraph claimed that Carlos is ‘edging closer’ to a move to the Magpies but it is ‘still not confirmed yet’.
And Newcastle have been handed a further boost, with Kaveh Solhekol claiming that Carlos has asked Sevilla to let him join the Premier League club.

Solhekol’s Sky Sports colleague Keith Downie confirmed the news on Twitter, saying: “Diego Carlos has told Sevilla he wants to leave for Newcastle United.
“@SkyKaveh is told the Brazilian defender is handing in a transfer request to the club President.
“Newcastle are in advanced discussions with the Spanish club. Fee being discussed in region of £30m.”
The 28-year-old joined Sevilla from Nantes in 2019 and has made 119 appearances for the La Liga side.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have submitted an offer worth €30million for Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata, according to reports.
This is according to Duncan Castles, who claims the Serie A outfit value the Colombia international in the region of €45million (around £37.6million).
