QPR duo clean up in monthly awards

It was a clean sweep for QPR in the Championship monthly awards for November, as Mark Warburton and Chris Willock scooped up both the Manager and Player of the Month awards.

Rangers were out in front in terms of form during November, scoring an impressive 13 points in five games and navigating themselves from eighth up to third in the table.

Warburton’s side were on the road for three of their five games, picking up a win and a clean sheet at Cardiff, a draw on TV against Blackpool, and a late victory to end the month against Derby. Back at the KPF, Rangers posted a perfect home record of two wins in two without conceding a single goal.

The QPR boss defeated Hull’s Grant McCann, Blackburn’s Tony Mowbray and Fulham’s Marco Silva, who all led their teams to double-figure points totals through November.

Former Arsenal youngster Chris Willock picked up the Player of the Month award for his part in Rangers’ good form. Since arriving at QPR for £750k late last year, Willock has turned out to be somewhat of a bargain, forming a highly effective attacking layer behind the central striker with Illias Chair.

Willock missed the trip to Cardiff at the beginning of November but recorded three goals and an assist in his four starts, and rounded out the month scoring a beautiful volleyed goal in the win at Derby. The win for Willock came over Derby’s captain Tom Lawrence, Bournemouth winger Jaidon Anthony and Hull number 10 George Honeyman.
