Report reveals Marcus Rashford plan for future as Man Utd set ‘minimum sale price’

Marcus Rashford has plans to talk to Erik ten Hag at the end of the season before deciding whether to leave Man Utd or not, according to reports.

The England international started the season in great form, scoring three goals in his first four matches in all competitions after recovering from shoulder surgery.

But he has only managed two goals in his next 28 matches since with the forward coming under intense scrutiny over the last month or so.

Fuss over Man Utd send-off for Jesse Lingard shows why Ralf Rangnick owes him nothing…

Rashford has only started 13 Premier League matches this season and there have been reports that he is now considering his future at the club.

Barcelona and Arsenal have been rumoured to be two of the options Rashford could have if he chooses to leave in the summer transfer window with both clubs needing a forward.

And now 90min claims that the 24-year-old’s short-term plan ‘is waiting to speak with’ Ten Hag – who will take over from interim boss Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season – ‘before making a decision on his long-term future’.

Rashford – who has also been dropped by England – ‘would like to remain at United in the long term, but has been left frustrated by the last few seasons at the club’.

He is ‘willing to hold talks’ with Ten Hag before choosing whether to stay or go with the report adding Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United as two possible destinations if he does leave.

And 90min adds that Man Utd ‘would expect a minimum sale price of £60m should Rashford be allowed to depart’.

Man Utd legend Roy Keane has been particularly critical of Rashford in recent weeks with the former Republic of Ireland international accusing him of playing “like a child” in their 4-0 loss to arch-rivals Liverpool last month.

And last Friday, Keane said that he thinks that the Man Utd winger smiles too much when he’s warming up ahead of a match instead of preparing for “war”.

When asked what he wants to see from Rashford, Keane said on Sky Sports: “A bit more courage from him, we’ve not seen enough of it.

“His performances… he’s not been consistent, he’s not worked hard enough, he’s not been brave in terms of taking people on, he’s not mixed his game up well enough in terms of running in behind.

“He’s now 24 years of age, he’s got to show more maturity, be more consistent, that’s the key to play at any big club.

“He’s got to do a lot more, I’m really frustrated with him.”

On whether Rashford is playing for his future at Man Utd, Keane added: “I think they all are.

“I think you’re always in a sense playing for your future. You’re talking about a reaction from the manager, as if you need loads of setbacks to get a reaction. The key is to do it week win, week out.

“Every time I see Marcus getting warmed up, he’s always smiling, I don’t like players smiling too much. You smile when you do score, when you do something.

“What we said when he first burst on to the scene, he affects games, he doesn’t affect games any more. He does very little. The performance last week [against Liverpool] I mentioned he played like a child, like an immature kid in terms of his hold-up play.

“He’s playing in a wider position tonight [against Chelsea], that’s probably easier for him, you just need to see some more.”
