‘Respectful’ Man Utd star ‘prepared to leave’ in January or next summer

Man Utd goalkeeper Dean Henderson is “prepared to leave” either in January or next summer as he is desperate to play regular football, according to reports.

Henderson came through the ranks at Manchester United. Over the past few years, he has had successful spells on loan at Shrewsbury and Sheffield United.

The Englishman spent two years at the latter between 2018 and 2020. He played 36 times for the Blades in the Premier League in 2019/20.

Henderson returned to Man Utd last year as he challenged David De Gea for the number one jersey.
The 24-year-old played 26 games for the Red Devils last season but he lost his spot to De Gea towards the end of the campaign.

Henderson has only started twice this season and he is yet to feature for them in the Premier League.
Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed via Twitter that Henderson has always been “respectful” regarding his position at United.

But he adds that he is now “prepared to leave” in January or next summer. His “priority” is to be playing games and his exit will depend on the offers that come in for him.

Speaking last month, Mark Bosnich encouraged Henderson to join Man Utd’s Premier League rivals Newcastle United:

“I think he should go. He’s at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing regular football,” Bosnich told talkSPORT.

“He’ll know that as well. I understand that at the start of the season, him having a go in pre-season to see how things plan out.

“De Gea has been excellent and there’s no doubt about it, with the exception of the second goal you have to say against Manchester City which I think he’ll know that he should have saved.

“But I think from Dean Henderson’s point of view, he needs to start looking after Dean Henderson.

“Newcastle are a club who are on the go and on the move but they are also in a perilous position right now.

“New manager. It’s important to get your spin right and the goalkeeper is the integral part of that. He should go and should go as soon as he possibly can.”
