The January transfer window is officially open and rumours about where players might end up have begun in earnest, with big names linked to the biggest clubs in the world… and Newcastle.
Differing from the summer transfer window, January is more a chance for clubs to make emergency signings rather than to allow teams to build up their squads.
As a result, a lot of the signings can be hit or miss and sometimes clubs have to pay over the odds in order to convince a team to let a player go mid-season.
