Liverpool are said to be close to agreeing a new deal with Mohamed Salah, but Danny Mills has warned the club over the problem it’s likely to create.
Talks over Salah’s new deal have been ongoing for some time but the Reds are said to be increasingly confident of tying him down to a new deal.
It’s rumoured the Egyptian wants £500,000 a week across four-and-a-half years which would cost Liverpool a massive £117mllion.

While Mills accepts replacing Salah would be a near-impossible task, he has warned the club that their wage-bill could increase “four-fold” as a result, with other Liverpool players likely to come knocking for improved terms.
Mills told Football Insider: “You have to look at and think how much is he going to cost to replace? It’s going to cost £80million at least plus wages.
“What would the direct replacement be who is someone similar? Kylian Mbappe? Erling Haaland? You have to look at it from that point of view.
“Yes, it’s a ridiculous amount of money. The only problem you have is all the other players saying ‘I want a bit of that’. All of a sudden your wage bill starts to increase three or four-fold.
“Even if they’ve signed a new contract recently players will come knocking and you have to be strong enough to say no. They will come knocking, don’t worry about that, that’s the nature of the beast.”
Salah said back in October that the contract talks are out of his hands, but admitted it would make him “really sad” if he left and was forced to play against Liverpool in the future.
“If you ask me, I would love to stay until the last day of my football career, but I can’t say much about that – it’s not in my hands,” he told Sky Sports.
“It depends on what the club want, not on me.
“At the moment I can’t see myself ever playing against Liverpool. That would make me sad. It’s hard, I don’t want to talk about it, but it would make me really sad.”
