Spurs face ‘stiff competition’ from West Ham for £20m Wolves man

Tottenham and West Ham will battle it out to sign Wolves winger Adama Traore this month, according to reports.

The Spain international is reportedly available for £20million after the Molineux club slashed their asking price for the winger.

Traore has played 150 times for Wolves, scoring ten and assisting 18. He is without a goal contribution in 19 matches this term.

West Ham can’t afford to make Moyes mend and make do…

The Telegraph (via the Daily Mail) claim Bruno Lage is keen on signing three new players this month, with the “reluctant sale” of Traore being crucial in allowing the head coach to spend.

Spurs and Liverpool have been heavily linked with the Spaniard in recent months. However, the report says West Ham will provide “stiff competition” in the race to land the player.

Wolves reportedly tried to tie Adama down to a new contract but could not come to an agreement despite offering him a weekly wage of £120,000.

He was previously valued at around £50m, with Wolves now prepared to cut their losses with his contract expiring in 2023.

The Hammers are likely to be active in the winter transfer window following long-term injuries to defenders Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna.

David Moyes will be very keen to bolster their attacking options, however, with Michail Antonio being their only out-and-out striker in the first-team squad.

As well as Traore, West Ham have been linked with Lille striker Jonathan David, who is also a reported target for Arsenal.

Last month, Fichajes claimed the Hammers are ‘negotiating’ a deal to sign the Canada international. He is valued at €50m by the Ligue 1 champions.

During their title-winning 2020/21 campaign, David scored 13 league goals whilst playing in 37 matches.

Meanwhile, West Ham are facing a fight to keep hold of their star player Declan Rice, according to reports.

The Sun claim that Manchester United have ‘a major boost in their hopes of signing’ Rice after West Ham’s ‘disappointing December’ in the Premier League. Interim boss Ralf Rangnick has ‘agreed to the club pushing on with their detailed assessment of Rice as one of their top summer transfer targets’.

Rice will likely cost £100m if he is to leave the London Stadium this month or in the summer.
