Spurs have ‘greatest chance’ of signing Prem star amid Everton interest

Spurs have the “greatest chance” of signing Norwich City defender Max Aarons either in January or during the summer, according to reports.

Aarons started his career at Luton Town but he joined Norwich in 2018. He has been an ever-present for the Canaries since the start of the 2018/19 campaign.

The 21-year-old has already played just short of 150 times for Norwich across all competitions.

The defender was named in the 2018/19 EFL Team of the Season for the Championship. He repeated this achievement last term as Norwich earned promotion back to the Premier League.

It was reported back in May that Spurs were interested in the England U21 international.

Italian outlet Calciomercato are reporting that Roma and Borussia Dortmund are interested in the full-back.

It is stated that Spurs and Everton are also tracking Aarons, but the Londoners have the “greatest chance” of signing him. This would be in “January or June” next year.

Elsewhere, Spurs got the better of Norwich City on Sunday. Antonio Conte’s men won 3-0 at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Italian has said that he feels “a lot of responsibility” towards Spurs fans:

“Honestly, first of all I want to say thanks to all the fans that sung my name,” he said. “In one hand, I’m very happy, very enthusiastic for this.

“On the other hand, I feel a lot of responsibility towards our fans. They trust a lot in my work and to listen to my name it was good, also because I have just arrived only one month I’ve been here and for sure I have this responsibility to deserve this and maybe it is too early.

“I want to show in the future I deserve this. The good result helps you, but I want to deserve if the fans decide to sing my name for my work, for my involvement in this club, in this situation.

“I think [Lucas Mora] scored an amazing goal but he has the quality to score more goals and he has to score more goals in the rest of the season,” Conte added.

“We need this type of situation. He’s very good, I think in front we have great quality with important strikers.

“Lucas has great quality and surely my expectation is to see much more goals like this, but good performance with and without the ball.”
