Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma is “appreciated” by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
The winger joined AFC Bournemouth in 2019 from Club Brugge for £13.7m. He was one of the standout players in the Championship last season.
Danjuma grabbed 17 goals and seven assists from his 35 appearances in the league.
The Dutchman signed for Villarreal during the summer as they splashed out around £21m to bring him to La Liga.
Danjuma has been in fine form for the Spanish outfit this term. He has grabbed seven goals and two assists from his 15 outings so far.
Liverpool will be without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane throughout January as they will feature in the African Cup of Nations.
During the latest ‘Here We Go Podcast’, Romano revealed that Danjuma is admired by Liverpool:
“In January they have a problem, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will go to the African Cup, this is why they are looking for wingers I am told, more the midfielders it’s more wingers, but let’s see if they can find the right player. They always work like this, no panic buys, but if they have a good opportunity, yes,” Romano said.
“Danjuma from Villarreal is doing fantastic, they love this player, they appreciate this player at Liverpool, but Villarreal don’t have any intention to open negotiations for him in January, but that’s just to mention the kind of player they like.”
“I’m a little bit concerned about the depth in the squad. I don’t think we have the top, top players when we lose (players). Like last season, when we lost (Virgil) Van Dijk and a few other players, you could see we struggled.
“I’m scared it could be the same this year. When people are injured, suspended or even for the African Nations Cup when we lose some players, I’m a little bit worried that it is where the title is going decided.
“I don’t think we are strong enough depth-wise in the long run with Manchester City or Chelsea.”
