Kieran Trippier has criticised Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy for costing the club a trophy during the 2018/19 season.
The England right-back signed for Newcastle United earlier this month after a successful stint with Atletico Madrid.
He helped Atletico win the La Liga title last term and will now be tasked with helping Newcastle avoid relegation this term.

Trippier spent four years at Tottenham after signing from Burnley in 2015. He made 114 appearances for the north Londoners.
The 31-year-old failed to win a trophy during his time at Spurs, but insists the sale of Mousa Dembele in January 2019 was the reason for the club’s shortcomings in 18/19.
Spurs were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool in the Champions League final and reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
Slamming chairman Levy’s decision to let Dembele leave halfway through the season, Trippier told The Athletic: “For me, the big one was selling Moussa Dembele that January. I think I can speak on behalf of the players who were there.
“In the dressing room, he was an unbelievable person and all the lads loved him, but on the pitch he was the kind of player who would make a couple of per cent difference. That’s what wins you things.
“It baffled me that they would sell him. I know he was going to be a free (transfer) in the summer, but with the things we were challenging for, I would have kept him there and then let him go. He was the difference between winning a trophy or not.”
Furthermore, Trippier was unhappy with Levy due to the state of his departure. He has revealed that the 59-year-old was offering him to clubs during the latter stages of his Spurs career.
“What annoyed me… as you know, people in football speak and there are always rumours, but I know 100 per cent for a fact – and this is what I was most angry about – that two months before the end of the season, Daniel was offering me to other clubs,” Trippier claimed.
“I knew for certain that was happening, so I knew my time there must be up. I was playing for my team-mates and the supporters, but I also knew I wasn’t wanted.”
