Edinson Cavani is “unhappy” at Manchester United amid rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona and Corinthians, according to reports.
Cavani has not featured consistently for the Red Devils this season due to injury problems.
The signing of Cristiano Ronaldo has not helped his cause, either. The ex-Napoli striker has only started twice in the Premier League when he has been available for selection.
Big Boxing Day: Newcastle v Man Utd, DCL, Tuchel, West Ham…
Cavani is out of contract at the end of the season and has been heavily linked with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona.
Despite being available on a free transfer next summer, the Catalan club are reportedly eager to sign the Uruguayan in the January transfer window.
Andre Cury, a reputable agent who was involved in Neymar’s move to Barca, claims Cavani is “unhappy” at Old Trafford, meaning a transfer next month is more likely to materialise.
“He is unhappy at United,” Cury revealed to Torcedores (via the Mirror). “He’s a guy I already know a little about his history because we almost brought him to Palmeiras the other time.”
With a move to Palmeiras breaking down, Cury insists Cavani could still move to Brazil, with Corinthians eyeing up a swoop for the United man.
“Cavani’s a guy who owns a farm in Uruguay and likes to be close to home, so in that sense there might be some possibility,” he added.
“Now, obviously if he has an offer from Barcelona, he won’t come to Brazil.
“If he has no choice other than Barcelona or that level of a big club that plays in the Champions League, then I think there’s a chance for the deal [with Corinthians] to happen, yes.”
Meanwhile, United boss Ralf Rangnick has made a ‘tall midfielder’ to replace Nemanja Matic his ‘top priority’ in the transfer market, according to reports.
The Athletic claims that West Ham’s Declan Rice and Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham are right at the top of his list.
Journalist Laurie Whitwell writes: ‘Rangnick has identified a tall midfielder as a top priority, essentially a replacement for Nemanja Matic. He admires Declan Rice and, of course, Jude Bellingham, who United tried to sign from Birmingham City after personal scouting missions by Mike Phelan. Neither of those players will move in January, however.’
