West Ham among ‘host of clubs’ chasing Feyenoord defender

West Ham are amongst numerous European clubs eyeing up a move for Feyenoord defender Marcos Senesi, according to reports.

The central defender signed for the Eredivisie outfit from San Lorenzo in 2019 for a fee in the region of £6m.

He has impressed in the Netherlands, becoming a mainstay in the Feyenoord defence in his debut campaign.

Last season, Senesi made 41 appearances in all competitions and has already played 25 times this term, with Feyenoord currently third in the Eredivisie.

His form in the Dutch top-flight has attracted interest from ‘a host of Premier League clubs’, including West Ham, according to 90min.

The Hammers are on the search for defensive reinforcements and will be forced into action in the January transfer window after long-term injuries to Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna.

According to the report, Premier League clubs Man Utd, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Leeds and Newcastle have watched the 24-year-old in recent months.

There is also reported interest from Italy, with Roma and Napoli both ‘making contact’, as well as La Liga giants Barcelona.

Elsewhere, Callum Wilson “would love” to play alongside reported Newcastle target Kieran Trippier, according to Gabriel Agbonlahor.

It was reported on Wednesday that Newcastle are “extremely interested” in signing Trippier.

Newcastle are expected to be in the market for new defenders in January. They currently have the joint-worst defence in the league as they have conceded 34 goals from their 16 games.

Wilson has been a standout player for the Magpies this term as he has netted six goals from his twelve games. As quoted by Football Insider, Agbonlahor has suggested that Trippier would be a “great signing” for Newcastle.

“Manquillo is a journeyman who does not really have the quality at right-back, to be honest,” Agbonlahor said.

“I’m sure Callum Wilson would love the service that Trippier can bring.

“That would be a great signing if they can get that done.”
