West Ham star hopeful they ‘rectify’ their form versus ‘fantastic’ Chelsea

West Ham star Aaron Cresswell is hopeful that they are able to “rectify” their dip in form when they host Chelsea at the London Stadium this weekend.

After finishing sixth in the Premier League last season, the Hammers have made a great start to this term.

They currently sit fourth in the table and they have also booked their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

West Ham‘s form has dipped after the international break, though. They are without a win in three Premier League games and they have been beaten by Wolves and Man City.

They host Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon. As quoted by talkSPORT, Cresswell has suggested that a dip in form was inevitable for West Ham:

“We don’t sit down and have any targets of where we want to finish or anything like that,” Cresswell said.

“Just because we lost a game against Man City and a draw against Brighton, that doesn’t dampen our aim of what we want to do.

“We know that throughout the season we were going to have a little dip in form.

“It’s up to us to rectify that and put that right and, as I say, certainly against Chelsea, what a way to do it and that’s what we’re aiming for.

“We want to take maximum points from the games we play, whether that’s [against] the best team in the league or the worst team in the league, that’s our aim.

“[Chelsea] are a fantastic team along with Man City and Liverpool at the minute, they’re all on form.

“There’s no reason why we can’t give anyone a game in this division and we have certainly showed that at times and we want to show that again on Saturday.”

Elsewhere, ex-Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma wants to make his former team “suffer” on Saturday:

“It will feel special in a way because I’ve been there for so many years, but it’s a football game and like all the other games I want to win this game for my team.

“I want to beat Chelsea because I want to beat everybody. I play for West Ham now and I’m very happy to be here.

“It’s going to be a tough game as we know they have a lot of strength, but we have to use our strength to make them suffer.”
