Wolves are ‘very interested’ in signing FC Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig on loan until the end of the season, according to reports.
Dubbed the ‘new Iniesta’, Puig has made over 50 appearances for the Blaugrana, scoring once.
He has played 12 times this season and has often been an unused substitute under both Ronald Koeman and Xavi Hernandez.
With his first-team opportunities limited, Puig could seek a move away from the Camp Nou in the January transfer window.
Premier League side Wolves ‘requested’ to take the 22-year-old on loan with an option to buy last summer, according to Sport (via Sport Witness).

The Spanish outlet explain that the Molineux club are ‘still very interested’ in signing the midfielder on loan, without including a buy option in the deal.
It is unclear if Puig will stay and fight for his place at Barca until the end of the 2021/22 season and analyse his options in the summer, or leave this month.
Meanwhile, Wolves winger Adama Traore has been heavily linked with a transfer in January.
Tottenham is the most likely destination for the Spain international. The north Londoners are keen on signing him on loan with an obligation to buy, according to the Telegraph.
His contract expires in 2023 and Wolves are reportedly listening to offers for the winger, with his value believed to be around £22million.
Traore is reportedly ‘keen’ on a move to Spurs, with Liverpool, Leeds and West Ham also rumoured to be interested in signing the player.
The 25-year-old scored his first goal of the season on Saturday as Wolves beat Southampton 3-1 at Molineux.
Following his goal, Arsenal legend Martin Keown urged his former club to make a surprise move for Traore.
He said: “I feel Traore is awesome at times and just for once, we have the satisfaction of seeing it.
“It’s a lovely finish from him. I’d sign him if I was a manager. Arsenal – get in and buy him.”
