‘Worth every penny’ – Pundit insists £90m star is ‘perfect’ for Liverpool

Former Premier League forward Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested that Jude Bellingham is “worth every penny” of his £90m valuation amid interest from Liverpool.

The midfielder has been with Borussia Dortmund since early 2020. They made him football’s most expensive 17-year-old as they paid an initial fee of £25m to sign him.

Bellingham has been an ever-present for the German side since this transfer. He has already featured 67 times across all competitions.

Gossip: Liverpool use Haaland decoy to shatter record deal

The youngster has impressed in the Champions League and he has already been capped ten times by England.

Bellingham was fined around £33,000 earlier this week for his comments on referee Felix Zwayer.

Dortmund want £90m for Bellingham as his contract is not set to expire until 2025. Agbonlahor has told talkSPORT that the Englishman is an “unbelievable” talent:

“He’d be worth every penny,” Agbonlahor said.

“He’s 18, he’s going to keep improving. I’ve watched him a few times, he’s unbelievable, and he’s going to keep improving, especially at Dortmund where he’s playing every week.

“I think it makes sense if he goes to Liverpool as well because you have to keep improving.

“Manchester City have improved their squad, Chelsea have, and Liverpool – [Naby] Keita, [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain – are they really the players that are going to keep Liverpool up there? I’m not sure.

“But Bellingham would fit straight into that midfield in there.

“He’s guaranteed to start every game. You could picture it – [Jordan] Henderson, Fabinho, and Bellingham playing as a three.

“They can’t rely on Keita. He’s had a lot of injuries. Chamberlain seems to get a lot of injuries as well, so he’d be a perfect signing for him Liverpool.

“When I was 18, I was playing Under-18s football!

“He’s 18, he’s played over 100 games, he’s playing for England – he could be as good as he wants to be.

“He’s got everything – he can run with the ball, he can tackle, he can score goals, he can use either foot, he’s got that physical side to him as well.”

Liverpool won their final Champions League group game on Tuesday night. They came from behind to beat AC Milan 2-1.

This result sees them become the first-ever English side to take maximum points from their Champions League group.
